PhD assistant professor at the University of Texas at Austin’s department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering
TOPIC: The XYZ’s of laser scanning in the construction industry
Dr. Christopher Rausch will discuss the present and future use cases of laser scanning in the construction industry. He will also highlight innovative workflows he has worked on, including dimensional quality for offsite construction, solving problems in the field, integration with artificial intelligence, and achieving a sustainable future through the reuse of materials.
Dr Rausch obtained his PhD from the University of Waterloo, where he was appointed as an Engineering Excellence Fellow.
His research focuses on the intersection of industrialized construction and the circular economy and how this can be used as a strategy to scale production of the built environment in a sustainable manner.
Dr Rausch has a range of industry experience with innovative practices including modularization, offsite construction, artificial intelligence and digital fabrication.
Some of his research outputs for the industry include quality control programs for offsite construction firms, design automation for contractors, and R&D for various AEC professionals.
